Homestay accommodation

We highly recommend our homestay accommodation.

Staying in the home of a local host is a great way to improve your English as you practise language you have learnt in the classroom, and you can experience more about British life and culture. Our hosts are friendly people offering a good standard of accommodation. Our homestays are all different: families with children, older couples or single people. In line with the ethos of the school, we aim to place our students with Christian homestays.

You will have your own private bedroom and we will not place other students of the same language in the same home. There may be 1 or 2 other students also staying in the same homestay.

We offer either half-board homestay, bed and breakfast  homestay or self-catering homestay.

Please note that we can only arrange accommodation for you if you are studying on our General or Intensive English courses, not our Part-time course.

Our homestays are in different areas of Cambridge, and you will normally need to travel by bus or bicycle to school, a journey of about 15-20 minutes. A weekly bus ticket costs about GBP 22. In Summer, some homestays are just outside Cambridge in nearby villages with a good bus route into Cambridge, up to 40 minutes depending on traffic.

Half-board

Half-board homestay includes breakfast and evening meal, Monday to Friday and all meals at weekends. Most students prefer half-board as it includes most of your meals, so it can cost less than eating out. It also means you spend more time with your homestay hosts as you will eat your meals with them – lots of opportunities to practise your English.

Bed & Breakfast

This is still homestay but includes only breakfast. You must eat all other meals out in a restaurant or cafe. You are not permitted to use the homestay kitchen to cook your own food.

Self-catering

You will still live in a homestay so it’s not your own independent accommodation, but you will be able to use the homestay kitchen to store and cook your own food, at times in agreement with the host.

Other options

Some students arrange their own accommodation in or near Cambridge. Please note it can be very difficult and expensive to book your own accommodation in a private apartment, house, flat or student residence.
